it is ok, that it!! - vijay - michigan
The product is too weak to do more than maintain the landscape. If you are using it to clear the growth after the winter, you will find it is too soft.
I had to revert back to my gas trimmer to clear the winter growth and I suppose will use this to maintain the edge.
Not what was promised on TV ads.

I really had high hopes for this... - C. Ward -
This was the first time I actually purchased an item off of an infomercial. I came to amazon, read some reviews, did my homework like I always do. There were mixed reviews as with any product, but I decided to test it out.

I decided to order from the 800 # as I've never done that before, and figured I would see what all they say/offer. From the start to the end it was about a 20-25 minute call. Out of those 20/25 minutes only 5 were taking my information, cc, etc. The rest was nothing but trying to upsell me. They tried to upsell the rapid charger (80.00 iirc), a "trimmings and grass blower", magazine subscriptions, etc. When I would say no, they would drop the price, and go again. I was nice about it, because I know the person on the end is only doing their job, and if they don't they will get fired. So anyway I just kept saying no thanks. They said if I paid the amount in full they would process my order faster, and I would receive expedited shipping, which meant I would receive the product in 7-10 days. The shipping was pretty fast, I received it in about 8 days.

When I opened the box, assembling what little needed to be done, was very easy. I plugged in the charger and put the battery on there. After 6 hours of charging it was ready. I went outside, did a little trimming and edging. After 15 minutes the battery was dead. I thought it must be a fluke since they said you can "trim an entire football field three times" on the infomercial. I charged the battery over night, and started again. Wow it lasted 20 minutes this time. I now see why they want to sell you extra batteries, and the rapid charger.

Other than the fact that this will only run for about 20 minutes, it seems a bit under-powered. What would take a corded/gas trimmer a swipe to cut, this took maybe 5-10 swipes. It's a good concept, and if the battery had lasted longer it would have received 3 or 4 stars, but that just isn't the case.

Overall I suggest buying another trimmer that won't force you to buy 4 batteries, or an 80.00 charger just to trim your grass.

Terrible power! Does NOT self feed line - David M. Blankenship - Alabama
I ordered this product and was very excited due to all the commericials that are ALL OVER the t.v. now. With a fully charged battery, I tried to trim my drive way and it was SO WEAK that I had to go very slow and try to trim a small portion of grass at a time. Also, every 2 minutes I had to stop and pull out the cord of the so called "self feeding line" that supposedly automatically adjusts to the proper length without manual adjustment...WRONG! It was such a dissappointment! Great idea but they didn't have the product to back up what they were advertising. I lost to ship it back, so bascially I paid dollars for a piece of crap and wasted time. DON'T BUY WORX GT!!!!!!!!

Neuton CE 5.4 14-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching/Bagging Lawn Mower with Removable Battery Review

Summary: If you have a very small yard (Perhaps 1000-1500 square feet of lawn) this could be a decent compromise for you, otherwise I don't think the 14" path and limited battery capacity will "cut it"

My neighbor has this one from a couple of years ago and I tried it out. It's smaller, lighter and quieter than the two cordless mowers we've used but that 14" path would probably be a dealbreaker for most people. When you consider that you will overlap each pass by at least 2-3 inches, you're really only cutting 10-11 inches on each pass.

>>Why SHOULD I get a cordless electric mower? They are super quiet, clean, and convenient. They aren't necessarily cheaper than a gas mower since they cost more up front but there is almost NO maintenance. (We spent over 10 years for a set of replacement batteries.) Corded electric mowers are a lot cheaper but then you have a cord.

>>Why SHOULDN'T I get a cordless mower? They weigh a LOT more than gas mowers so if you have a hilly lot or have difficulty with physical exertion, forget it. They don't have as much power as gas and re-fueling means charging for a few hours so if your lot is over ½ acre you may want to reconsider.

>>Why do they all come with mulching PLUS bagging? Electric powered mowers have come a long ways but mulching still takes a LOT more power than discharging, so bagging is pretty much a standard feature.

>>What is a watt-hour? It's basically how big your gas tank is - the more watt-hours, the longer you can mow before you have to recharge.

>>Is the cutting path a big deal? Yes - for two reasons. 1) The first thing manufacturers do when power is marginal is reduce the blade size, so I tend to see the smaller mowers as more likely to be underpowered. Second, when you consider that you have to overlap each pass by ~3", a 20" blade now effectively cuts 13% more on each pass. If you have a larger yard, you definitely do NOT want anything under 18" Also, my measurements show most mowers overstate their blade size by 1/2" (Our 20" measures 19-5/8, our 19 measures 18-1/2)

>>Why might I want a removable battery? If you have a large yard, this means you can have a second battery charging while you are using the first. A second battery typically costs 0-0 but it can make the difference between going electric or not. Finally, if you keep the mower in a shed that doesn't have power, a removable battery will let you bring it in for charging.

>>How long will my batteries last? That depends on your climate and usage. We had a small lot for many years and were religious about recharging right after use. We also live in a cooler climate (Michigan) so the mowing season is shorter. Our batteries lasted about 7 years. Most people should get 3-4 years easily but if you're careless and live in Arizona, you could probably kill the batteries in a year or two.

>>Why should I care about higher voltage? Higher voltage = more power, PLUS you can recharge the mower faster. With the same chemistry and current, a 36V mower will charge 50% faster than a 24V mower.

>>Metal deck or plastic? Metal rusts but with minimal care it's not an issue. Plastic ends up giving you a more stuff to trim since you can't cut as close to fences, etc.

poor battery life - Verlyn R - Camano Island, WA United States
I have a 5.? mower and cannot keep the battery working for more than 1 season. I store the battery per manufacturers suggestion (which has changed over the years) but still have to buy a battery every year. That's fairly expensive. I won't buy another. My mower is going to the dump and the batteries I've collected to the recycle.

Neuton CE5 has a bit more power than my corded Black & Decker had - C. D Smith - Denver, CO
We got this mower at an [...] mower trade in event. We didn't have a gas mower to trade in so we paid 5 for this mower. (We are giving our old B&D electric away to our dog sitter). I paid 9 for the B&D electric and it always had trouble with the higher grass. The Little Neuton CE5 has a bit more torque than the B&D ever had. The cutting path is quite a bit smaller at 14 inches, however, my wife keeps re-claiming more and more yard and turning it into garden so the 1500 or so square feet of lawn we have left is easily mowable with this little puppy. Set up was easy. I took the battery and charger into the back porch and had it charging while I assembled the mower. The battery wasn't fully charged after set up, but after about 4 hours on the charger (the manual said it could take 8 to 14 hours to fully charge), the light on the charger changed from red to green indicating the battery was fully charged. Even with all the rain and foot high grass (which would require a couple passes with any mower), going through that mostly dry foot high grass was easier with the Neut than with the B&D.

The "Prius" mower - J. Calhoun - Worthington, OH USA
I have the previous version of this mower, now 8 years old, and it finally died. The original batteries are still going, and I can still trim. We are rather rough on mowers (previous record: 3 years on a gas mower), but until last year, you could get any part to repair it. All mowers will need maintenance, but overall this has been much cheaper to operate and repair. I am ordering this version to replace it, which has been out a few years, and it is mostly the same as mine. Mine is the first version sold.

If you use up all the juice in one battery, just slip another one in. I can mow my small yard and do all the trimming and still have juice left over on one battery. I can mow on Sunday morning and not disturb anyone (you can talk in a low voice and be heard while mowing). You can pick it up with one hand. I mulch my leaves with it. The trimmer is the best one I have ever had.

Like all electric mowers, it requires a certain philosophy to be successfull (the "Prius" thing). I use the entire width and do not overlap rows, leaving a 4" mowhawk. Then I go back and mow that. You cannot walk too fast over the wet or extra thick parts. With this method, it is as fast and as thorough as my last 5 1/2 hp gas mower. You need to keep the batteries charged, but not on the charger all of the time. If you are not willing to make adjustments like this, you will be happier with a gas mower. The 36 volt version is more powerful, and so is a corded electric, but for small yards, this is fine.

Sunlawn 9-Inch 12 Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer #BTE-1

Sunlawn 9-Inch 12 Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer #BTE-1 Review

Trimmer arrived promptly and in good condition. The trimmer is good for light maintenance trimming of grass. The light weight of the trimmer makes it good for reaching into tight spots. It is not so good for initial clearing of an area over grown with tough weeds. It is a good supplement for a gas trimmer for lighter work but not a replacement for clearing badly over grown spots.

DO NOT BUY SUNLAWN PRODUCTS - 6080 - Sacramento, CA
SUNLAWN HAS GONE OUT OF BUSINESS & IS NOT HONORING THEIR WARRANTIES. IVE HAD THE SAME PART BREAK TWICE IN ONE YEAR. AVOID SUNLAWN PRODUCTS

Don't bother - S. Cauffman - Irvine, CA
The separate, shoulder-mounted battery is great, making the hand-held part as light as most plug-in electric trimmers. It seems to have a bit more torque than the cheapo plug-in trimmer I had before, though not enough to consider it professional-grade, by any means. Battery life is enough to edge a very small southern-california postage-stamp-sized yard (maybe a few hundred linear feet of edging).

The problem I've encountered is that, while the cutting cord will spin freely when the trimmer is not actively trimming, when I start to trim, the cord is deflected into the top of the safety cover, chopping the cord to a length of about 2 inches -- rendering it too short to cut effectively or to "self-feed" to the proper length by the usual method of tapping the spinning head on the ground. I ended up having to stop every few feet to manually pull out more string. I have found that this problem can be overcome by removing the safety cover entirely, but of course this is highly inadvisable, and I am certainly not suggesting that you do so.

If not for the finicky relationship between the cutting cord and the safety cover, I would have rated this trimmer with 5 stars instead of 2.

2-MONTH UPDATE (June, 2009): After a handful of charge/discharce cycles, battery life has decreased to less than a minute. After a full 12 hours of charging, the trimmer will spin fast enough to cut for a few seconds, and then slows to a low RPM that can't cut. This, despite the manual saying the lead-acid battery does not develop a memory. Revise rating to zero stars.

Great item - Justine - Portland, ME
I love my new trimmer, it is a great addition to my reel mower. Its easy to use and the instructions are easy to understand. Its great not having cords to tangle or gas to inhale.

Mantis 811103 15-Inch 24 Volt Cordless Electric Reel Mower with Folding Handle And Grass Catcher

Mantis 811103 15-Inch 24 Volt Cordless Electric Reel Mower with Folding Handle And Grass Catcher Review

This mower is Light! I can lift it one handed and it folds nicely to fit in my trunk. It's quiet, easy to turn, and mowing is now actually fun! I love this little guy. The only problem is the handle to activate the motor. Its spring is very tight and so you will probably need a small plastic clip or clamp to hold the handle against the bar. I know I did.

However, it needs some very particular mowing conditions.
#1 Flat lawn. I mean, really really flat. The slightest bump is enough to make the blades catch. If you have the motor running while you traverse across your driveway or walkway to the other half of your lawn, it will likely break.

#2 No debris. A pebble will permanantly damage the blades. My lawn has these peculiar leaves with little 'pods' or bumps in them, and when the mower goes over them a horrible clunking occurs as the hard bits of the leaf hit the blades. Even a single leaf will cause a small clunk.

#3 Small lawn. I have a 1,000 sq ft lawn, and the mower starts pooping out at the end. If I didn't have a fully charged battery, I have to do my lawn in two separate days. I'm in the suburbs. If you are in a town somewhere, most lawns are smaller than this so you should be fine.

#4 Mow it every week. I missed a week once, and the grass was too long for this little guy. My previous lawnmower had no problems, but this guy, nope. I had to borrow my neighbor's gas mower.

1 year Warranty is a LIE - D. Cowden - Oklahoma
Mantis does not honor their often advertised one year warranty if you purchase from any source other than them. Amazon wants to charge me a restocking fee because I bought the thing early the year and didn't try it out till recently.

Now I'm stuck with a 0.00 cheap piece of crap that is only good for tiny lawns.

Mantis Electric Reel Mower works fine. - B.K. BAZHE, Author of Damages, bazhe.com - NYC
It does work fine, not the best, but unfortunately we are behind many countries to be green and in technologies. So there is not much of a choice. The Quality is not the greatest, because many parts are plastic made in China. Also the price is not normal, but as I said, one has not much choice in our market-place.

Terrible Directions but good product - C. Harris - Boston, MA
I'm a 76-year-old woman who has a good-sized yard broken up by garden beds, and trees. Electric mower conked out so bought this one in hopes it would cut my lawn (front and back) on one charge. It does! It's not too hard for me to push although I haven't yet figured out how to adjust the blade height...that's what I mean by terrible directions...took me forever to put it together. Don't use the grass catcher, it fills up too fast and makes the mowing take longer. However it's light enough for me to handle although it's more of a workout for me than my electric mower was but nice not to worry about a cord. If I could figure out how to adjust the blade it would get more stars! Overall I'm glad I bought it.

One Hour of Power on a Single Charge
The Neuton CE 5.2 Battery-Powered Mower is a welcome relief from the arm-yanking pull-starts, noxious fumes, startling noises, and uncomfortable vibrations of a gas lawn mower. It starts every time with a simple push of a button and mows for up to an hour on a single charge--ample time for most small- to medium-sized lawns. Need more time? Unlike other battery mowers with built-in batteries that require you to stop mowing to recharge, the CE 5.2 lets you drop in an optional spare battery and keep on mowing. For added convenience, you can also use the CE 5.2 as a trim mower for larger lawns.

Environmentally Friendly Gas- and Oil-Free Operation
The key benefits of the CE 5.2 are that it works well without compromising the environment, and that it doesn’t demand continual maintenance. Because this mower never requires gas or oil, it won’t need a tune-up. Plus, it runs clean, meaning it won’t release harmful pollutants or carbon emissions into the air. Additionally, no gas or oil means easy cleaning and safe storage without spills or fumes.

Magnet Battery and 3-in-1 Cutting Options for Power and Versatility
This efficient mower owes its robust performance to a 32-amp, 240-watt-hour, 24-volt permanent magnet battery that’s both removable and sealed. The battery provides an impressive 45-60-minute run time per charge, depending on grass conditions. The CE 5.2 also offers versatile three-in-one cutting options and includes a rear grass bag (which holds one full bushel of clippings), a side discharge chute, and a mulching plug.

Lightweight for Easy Pushing, Adjustable Height for Greater Flexibility
Easy to operate, the CE 5.2 weighs just 48 pounds, so you won’t struggle to push it across your lawn. Additionally, a single-touch height-adjustment lever raises and lowers the cutting blade from 1.2 inches to 3.0 inches, giving you great flexibility.

14-Inch Cutting Width for Better Control and Great Results
Equipped with seven-inch front wheels and eight-inch rear wheels, the CE 5.2 is stable and sturdy, even when mowing around trees or shrubs or on rugged terrain. Its 14-inch cutting width lets you power through your lawn, leaving only manicured grass behind.

Truly Quiet Operation for More Enjoyable Yard Work
Because it runs on a battery, the CE 5.2 boasts a quiet running noise of less than 80 DbA. The low noise level makes operation more pleasant for both you and your neighbors. You might even be able to ditch those ear plugs for good!

Cost-Effective Design Saves You Money
The CE 5.2 saves you money year after year thanks to its low operating costs. The estimated cost to operate a gas mower (including gasoline, oil, spark plugs, filters, and tune-ups) for four years is as much as 0.00. The costs of recharging the battery over four years of mowing 28 times per year with a Neuton Mower is approximately .20. That's a huge savings!

Ready to Go Right Out of the Box
With the CE 5.2, you don’t have to wait to mow. It arrives with everything you need to get started right away, including the battery, battery charger, and rear grass-collection bag.

Optional Accessories for All-in-One Yard Maintenance
Neuton Mowers have attachments and accessories that give you options other mowers simply can’t. For instance, the optional Trimmer/Edger Attachment eliminates the need for a second piece of equipment and gives your yard and walkways a beautiful, clean finish. And for longer running time, you can also purchase an optional Spare Battery (model 178781).

The CE 5.2 measures 18 x 30 x 37 inches (WxHxD), weighs 48 pounds, and comes with a two-year limited warranty.

Great Mower & Outstanding Customer Support - J. Norton -
This is a nice little mower for our yard that is about .1 of acre. It is light weight and very quiet. I've had it for about 2 years now and everything works great. I got the string trimmer attachment which is a real time saver having two tools in one. I wish the mowing path was a bit wider. I did have a switch problem but, one call to customer service had a whole new handle bar assembly in the mail at no charge. These people stand behind their product!

As good as a Gas mower - Harland Taylor - Leominster, MA
This product is better than an electric mower with a power cord. The disadvantage of most electric mowers is the power cord hanging off the side. Another disadvatage is you are limited by the length of the cord.

With the Neuton mower there is no limitation by cord length. There is suficient power in the battery to mow most lawns with enough left over to assist your neighbor with his lawn. My lawn is small, and I take care of two lawns. One advantage of the Neuton mower over a gas mower is it is instant running without the need of a pull cord.

Today has to be good now that you're part of it.

I NOW love it. ** UPDATED ** - J. Zonick - Orange, CA USA
Ordered it from Amazon on Thursday within the time-frame for next day delivery. One clicked and waited. No show on Friday, ugh. Turns out Amazon says heavy items (never got the weight definition) don't go out next day, but that I'll get a "courtesy refund" of my Prime fee for next day (.99). Ok, fine. It certainly doesn't merit a bad rating for the product - but something you should know if you want this quickly.

I received it Monday and immediately took the battery out to charge it. No light. I insert it a few more times to make sure I'm doing it right (it's a simple mini-din on the battery that an AC adapter plugs into). No dice. I let it charge overnight, but the mower is as dead can be when I try to start it up. This is where it gets interesting.

I speak to Neuton (DW Power) tech support, and mention it to them. After asking the obvious quesitons, the rep asks me if I have a voltmeter. It's fairly presumptuous to expect a customer to have that skillset, but I just happen to. The adapter tests fine so it is obviously a bad battery. Shame, but stuff happens - right? So because my grass is taking over my backyard I practically beg to get it next day, and the rep says I can wait the 7-10 days from VT to CA, or I can PAY to expedite it. Wait a minute, didn't I pay for a functioning product? "But sir, I'm sending this to you for free?!". Wow. If I hadn't researched this mower to death to determine it would work best for me this would have been on the first truck back to VA.

I hope and pray that I'll never need to contact their customer "service" again.

I will update this once I actually get the battery and I can use the product.

** Update 4-23-10 **

I got a call two days after I wrote this review from DW Power explaining that they were overnighting a battery to me at their expense. Whether it was due to this review or not I can't say, but I was very impressed - but that was just the beginning.

After charging the battery for a half day, I set it in the mower and immediately the activity light on the front of the mower turned green. So far, so good. I set the blade height to the highest setting (3" I believe), put the bag catcher on, and away I went.

This mower is a dream. Not only is it quiet but it's easy to maneuver. It does a great job cutting, and after mowing both my front and back lawns (about 45 minutes) the battery still had plenty of juice (although you should slap it on the charger right away per the instructions). It's nice to know my yard will only need one battery. I also like the fact that the large handle breaks down and can be folded (and the mower uprighted) to conserve space in the garage. I'm glad I gave this mower a second chance.

Greenworks 25092 18-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Bag/Mulch Self Propelled Lawn Mower Review

I've used three different cordless mowers, but not this one. I Have the 20" Toro with 36 volts which works very well and a 19"/24V B&D, which I found to be adequate 80% of the time - with only 24V it struggled with tall grass. On paper the Greenworks looks pretty good on features but may fall short in power. As one of the only self propelled electrics it's clearly got less competition. I'd get this before the Epic 21" /24V self propelled.

I've put a quick guide of the most popular models on Amazon. All info reported by manufacturer. Amazon won't let me put prices in my review, sorry!

Has a kick! - Lulu - Ammon, ID United States
This little cutie kind of jumps like a wild pony with the self propelled option. You'll want to drop that lever when making turns and cutting small spaces. My prior mower was a 22" so I cut more narrow strips now but I LOVE how easy it is to push and to empty a smaller catch bag. Practice with the propelled lever in a large area of lawn, especially if you are inexperienced and not very strong. Our lawn is a little over a 1/4 acre and I don't even come close to draining the battery. The battery is easy to lift out, both hands because it is on the heavy side, for charging (or it can be charged in the mower). It does not develop a memory and can be charged at any time. Just watch and take it off the charger when the light turns green (about 5 hours, following initial 15 hours). A completely sealed battery that you don't have to worry about tipping. Nice, soft molded handle with levers that don't need a constant tight grip, so it's easier on your hands.

no title - no name - MN
I am still getting used to the machine. It has quite a kick to start with the self propel feature, and I am finding I actually have to hold it back a bit on a battery full charge. The directions said it would take several runs and recharges to reach full capacity but I don't think it will ever do my yard in full as some spots are very thick and seem to strain the motor. As a new machine I am disappointed as it seems to cut poorly...I will get the blade sharpened soon and maybe that will improve it...just seemed to push over some dandelions rather than to clean cut. The machine is quite heavy to push into the garage as I am not wanting to run the motor and use the self propel feature inside the building. The bag is very easy to put in and take out. The mulcher not so great performance, maybe that will improve with battery optimum level. Much better than some gas mowers though...no stink, no messiness with gas and oil and plugs, and quieter. Years ago got better service from a plug in electric mower that was light, quiet and cut well, but the inconvenience of the cord was too much to continue with. For the money not a bad purchase but would like the technology to advance more.

No reply from company! Read the warranty carefully! - Fellow Consumer -
Was looking at buying one of these mowers because of the good reviews so went to the company website and submitted a few questions to the sales email address. Waited a day and no reply. Submitted the same questions to the info email address and the sales email address again. Another day and no reply. If no reply when they are trying to get my business not sure what would happen if I already bought one and wanted warranty support. Read the warranty on the company website. Note it says anyting broken from normal wear and tear is not covered! I can see abuse not being covered but if you use the mower normally and it breaks and it is not covered, what good is the four year warranty?
UPDATE: Waited another day - no reply to either email. Called customer service number on website. After a few machine messages I was put on hold. I am typing this update while listening to their musac. I just hung up after being on hold for seven minutes twenty seconds. Does this company has any USA people working i.e. maybe it is an offshore company with a USA address to add credibility. I can't buy the product if I can't communicate with the company. Try contacting the company for yourself before making your purchase. Good Luck!

Toro 51467 8-Inch 12-Volt Cordless Electric Trimmer

Toro 51467 8-Inch 12-Volt Cordless Electric Trimmer Review

This is the best little weed wacker I have ever owned. I was a little concerned when I purchased it that it would not hold a charge for very long. However, I was wrong. I have used it several times to trim our back yard and have yet to recharge it. It is very light weight and easy to handle. It does a wonderful job will little or no effort. I never liked having a regular electric trimmer because of having to drag the cord all over the yard and then having to wrap it back up. The gas trimmer is too heavy for me and almost impossible to start. This little trimmer is the "BOMB".

Pretty Flimsey - Catherine J. Butenas - Kansas City, MO United States
I thought this trimmer would be similar to a Toro cordless trimmer I purchase 10 years ago that worked fabulously for years, but this trimmer is almost toy-like. The shield will not stay on and the two-piece arms become disconnected as if they shake apart after a few minutes of use. It works very well as a trimmer - just cannot keep the parts together. Very disappointed with the quality of this product.

WORX GT WG151.5 18-Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer/Edger

WORX GT WG151.5 18-Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer/Edger Review

Trimmer was bought on May 3rd and arrived promptly. The unit is well built; better than many of the others I looked at in stores and I like the head & support handle angle adjustability. The head does not adjust on most units. Even though assembly instructions were not great; the assembly was pretty straight forward. I charged the battery about 3-4 hours, but did not use the trimmer for a few days. I have now used it once and the trimmer worked well. It does not have the power of a gas or plug in trimmer, but I found it to be more than adequate for my yard here in central Indiana. The trimmer is fairly light weight and easy to handle. I have about 250 feet of dog ear fence, planting area, light posts and trees to go around and it did the job easily. All of it being normal grass with only a few big weeds. The battery did not run down, however I did not edge my 130 feet of drive way or sidewalks. Doing so may use up the battery; I will try it next time. I would have given this trimmer 5 stars, but I am not sure how well I like it feeding line each time I turn it off and on. I tend to release the trigger sometimes as I more along and/or walk between items to trim. It may go through more line than necessary. I'll have to wait and see. I'm glad I purchased the trimmer and would do it over again. I really like not smelling like oil when I'm done. I can highly recommend it for anyone having similar type use.

So far so good - John G. -
Just got the WORX WG151.5 yesterday and today ran it through it's paces. All works as advertised and I am pleased to see that somebody had their head screwed on correcty during the design phase - there is some though to the operator! Amazing. (String trimmers gas or electric can be a real pain to use.) I was impressed with the power (I have an gas monster of mass destruction for the ugly stuff) and more importantly the finess capability. It works!
No, I don't have much time in so I can't speak to it's longivity but "so far so good."

Read your manual - Richard D. Miller -
Here's the way it is. If you take care of your battery the way the manual says, you will probably avoid the headaches some of the reviews describe.

1. Before you charge your battery, run it all the way out of power.

2. When you are finished trimming, don't put the battery on the charger immediately. The battery will be warm. Let sit on the shelf and cool. This will help it to charge to greater capacity.

3. The battery will build up capacity the first 5 or 6 times you charge it.

4. Don't leave a fully charged battery on the charger.

5. Off-season, store the battery somewhere not too hot or cold and charge the battery about once a month.

Enjoy the cordless option. Battery lasts plenty long and charges up within 1/2 hour as stated. Takes a little getting used to as far as what angle to hold the trimmer, but trims well. Very lightweight and comfortable to hold. Like the different height adjustments for my husband and myself.

Horrible & Rude Customer Service - foreveruntilsunday - Los Angeles, CA
After requesting replacement of 1 lithium battery(and waited 3 weeks because someone there 'forgot' to authorize my shipment), my 2nd battery only lasted for 1/2 hour. Today I phoned Customer Service and offered to return both batteries as well as the charging unit. Technical Support would not send me items, but rather told to go to an authorized service center which is 45 minutes away!

The total time I spent on hold and talking to these people was over 1 hour.

Wendy at Tech Support told me she 'had no control over where I lived". How rude!

Do not buy this product and if you do, make sure you follow up with Customer Service because they are grossly incompetent and uncaring of backing up this product.

Black & Decker CMM1200 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching Lawn Mower Review

The four stars is actually for our CMM1000 which was the first generation of this mower. It's been a trooper for us and the only thing we do is sharpen the blades once a year and we've swapped out the batteries only once!

I've put a quick guide of the most popular models on Amazon. All info reported by manufacturer. Amazon won't let me put prices in my review, sorry!

Simply Put - A Great Mower - J. Russell - Columbus, OH USA
I'm in my second season of using the CMM1200. At first I was skeptical that it would still work after being charged in the garage over the winter. But it still works as well as when I purchased it last year.

I have a medium sized yard that's relatively flat which is ideal for this mower. Sure it's heavier than a standard gas powered mower but it is on wheels, fellas. Not like you have to carry it...

I've also heard gripes about losing the key. I put mine on a key-chain attached to the mower. Unless you store the thing out of your locked garage, who cares? The key will be there when you need it.

This mower was pricier than a gas-powered replacement (unless you look at Lawn Boys or other upscale mowers) but the ease of use and elimination of gas, oil and maintenance is well worth it. Plus it doesn't stink up the neighborhood with gas fumes and smoke and it's quieter than my wife's hairdryer. It'll make you enjoy cutting your grass with a clear conscience. Perfect for Suburbia!

Awesome mower for smaller lawns - M. Woolf - Seattle, WA USA
I had the previous model of this mower for 6 years and loved it. The battery doesn't hold much of a charge now (only about 20 minutes) but I'm buying the newest model today. This mower is a great way to go green as there are no emissions and it still performs very well. If you have a large lawn, as I did (1/2 acre), I did have to mow 1/2 and then charge it, and then mow the other half. Love this mower though... I'm a repeat customer!

Satisfied with experience - National Parks - Seattle, Wa.
I am satisfied with the purchase experience and the product. Everything went smoothly, and so far, after 2 uses, we are very happy with the Lawn Mower. The only thing I was surprised about was the temperature restrictions for charging the battery. The manufacturer recommends that it NOT be charged in temperatures below 41 degrees F. to ensure longevity of battery life. It's also recommended that you charge the mower continuously when not being used.

Toro 20360 e-Cycler 20-Inch 36-Volt Cordless Electric Lawn Mower

Toro 20360 e-Cycler 20-Inch 36-Volt Cordless Electric Lawn Mower Review

Ladies, before I got this Toro e-Cycler, I had never, ever, ever cut the grass before . . . never, ever, ever . . . not even once. (Maybe just like you. ) This probably goes back to high school, when one of the girls in my neighborhood told me her father had cut off two of his fingers, while cutting the grass. Not being a brave child, I internalized what she said, and forever saw a lawn mower as being totally dangerous! (Not to mention, you can always find a guy to cut the grass for you.)

I decided, however, it was high time to overcome this childhood fear. I heard that electric lawn mowers were easier for females to use, due to the cord thing you have to pull to start gas lawn mowers. Yes, that is a sexist observation, but I'm afraid I do have weak arm muscles. (Maybe just like you.) Thus, electric was the way to go. The e-Cycler is also only a 20-inch lawn mower. And it is quite pretty! It's bright red with a deep black grass bag. I would have preferred hot pink, but I don't think Toro makes hot pink lawn mowers.

Okay, ladies... when Amazon ships these lawn mowers, they use UPS, and the UPS guy will be quite happy to put your big lawn mower box in the garage for you. It comes almost totally assembled. All you have to do is unfold the handles and tighten the handle knobs by hand. If you want to do this yourself, do it right away before any guys see the box. Yes, to many guys, a big Toro box is like a big Christmas present with a big bow on it. They will be fighting over who gets to open the box and assemble the lawn mower.

Next, it is VERY important to read the directions, especially all the safety warnings. And it was worse than I feared! Not only can you lose fingers or toes while cutting the grass, objects can shoot out from under the lawn mower, and injure or kill you, children, pets or innocent bystanders. I'm not joking! Even a worn grass bag can "result in serious personal injury or death to the operator or bystanders". You're suppose to wear shoes, long pants, safety glasses and no jewelry, while cutting the grass. Today, when I cut the grass for the first time, it was very hot, so I'm afraid I wore shorts instead of long pants. I also had no safety glasses, so that was out, too. (Of course, though, if my friend in high school had told me her father was blinded while cutting the grass, I would have run right down to the hardware store and bought safety glasses!)

Starting the lawn mower was very easy. You just put the key in the key slot, and pull out a plastic lever on the handle, which turns on the lawn mower. When you let go of the lever, the lawn mower turns off in three seconds. What could be easier? I first checked the lawn for rocks, sticks and baby bunnies, and then just pulled out the lever. After pushing it for approximately 60 seconds, one of my neighbors suddenly appeared , with her dog on a leash, just a couple of feet away from me, and announced: "It is quiet!" Totally shocked someone was standing so close to me and my operating lawn mower, I just stared at her at first, but then asked: "Do you mean the lawn mower?" She replied: "Yes, it's very quiet." Okay! Ladies . . . if you are looking for a quiet lawn mower, this is the one to get, according to my lovely neighbor, who along with her dog, wasn't injured or killed by me and my operating lawn mower.

Mowing right along, I discovered cutting grass is a lot like vacuuming, only it takes more arm strength. It's actually sort of like a cardio workout, too. Instead of feeling tired after cutting the grass, I actually felt energized. Yes, ladies . . . it's good exercise! And it will build up your arm muscles! In the fall, you can also use it to mulch all the pretty leaves in your yard, too, when they are no longer pretty. Then, after the yard cutting season is over, the directions say you can store your Toto for three months, without recharging it. I guess that means in the dead of winter, if you have a winter where you live, you are going to have to recharge it every three months. You also much recharge the battery after cutting the grass every time. But, hey, there's no gas to buy or spill, and no gas cord thing that needs yanking! Also, remember to sweep off the surface of the lawn mower after each use, and check the blade area for anything caught up in the blade. And don't listen to any guy who tells you to wash it down with a hose! It's electric . . . and the coolest, easiest lawn mower a girl could get!

Fantastic Deal and Item - Carol -
It is always a pleasure doing business on Amazon. I have never had a bad deal in all my many purchases. When there is a problem they respond and correct is right away. The corless lawn mower has made me life so much easy. Receive quick updated emails and arrived supper quick. Don't ever worry about purchasing on this site. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Mixed Feelings - Catman - Oregon, USA
The Toro was purchased to replace a 5 year old Neuton. The Neuton worked but the less said about it's mulching performance the better. Toro has a good reputation and the E-Cycler's mulching capability was rated favorably. After 4 mowings or our modest urban lawn, I agree that it mulches very well. Overall I have mixed feelings towards this mower. In spite of Toro's claims, it's a heavy machine and pushing it even on a modest slope is not easy. I mentioned this to my wife who thought I was exagerating. She managed 20 feet on level ground before giving it back.

Another thing I've noticed; the blade dulls quickly. Possibly mine was not properly heat treated but two mowings of our rye grass lawn in mulch mode is enough to dull the edge. I haven't tried bagging but expect it would stay sharp longer. Lastly, it has a lot of vibration, much more than the old Neuton. It is a more powerful machine so maybe that's normal? I emailed Toro's help line and they advised to take it to a repair center but didn't offer any advice on how much vibration to expect. I haven't taken it in so far, assuming the local repair center has yet to see one and wouldn't know how much is normal. Blade balance, tracking and shaft runout seem good but that's the limit of my trouble shooting ability.

I do like the cordless electric idea. No gas to store, no oil to change, no air filter to clean. It does mow and mulch quite well but there are some definite drawbacks. Lead acid batteries are what really hold back the current crop of cordless electric mowers. Lithum Ion batteries could cut perhaps 20 pounds off the weight but are currently price prohibitive. Until they or even better batteries become more affordable using this mower is, at least, a good workout.

Excellent mower: Review and a few tips... - Karen - Connecticut, U.S.
I bought this mower based on Consumer Reports recommendation. When it arrived, the grass was very tall due to spring rains -- I was concerned the mower wouldn't get through it effectively -- however, it cut through tall and thick grass without any problems! I also worried the battery might not last long enough to cut both front & back yard lawns, but not a problem -- I just charge it after each time I mow.

Because I don't like to apply lawn chemicals, I use the mulch function. When mulching, it's easier to push the mower in thick grass if the front wheels are raised 2 notches higher than the back wheels (each wheel can be independently adjusted). The mower also cuts well when being pulled (backward) -- just be sure to pull the mower smoothly so that the plastic safety bar (back, bottom end of mower) doesn't fold under the mower.

It's fairly quiet, much quieter than gas-powered mowers. This is important to me as I live in a neighborhood with long, narrow lots -- my neighbors' houses are close to mine (and my yard).

Worth mentioning, this is the only lawn equipment I've ever had shipped to me. As another reviewer mentioned, the lawn mower comes fully-assembled -- you'll just pull back the handle, tighten the handle screws (no tools required), charge it, and you're ready to mow!
