RoboMower – RL850

RoboMower – RL850 Review

First of all, you need to understand the limitations of the Robomower and determine if your yard is right for it or not. I've had my RL800 for 3 seasons now and while I still fuss at it every time it cuts the grass, I don't know what I'd do without it...Except get another smelly gas mower and grind it out like before Robomower.

It doesn't do hills well. Think about how you divide up your yard into zones before installation. Keep the battery continuously charging. And "supervise" it while it's cutting the grass. If you're yard is relatively flat and you send Robomower out every week during the summer, you should be pleased with the results, mechanical/warranty problems aside.

Our entire front, sides and back yards are all 1 zone. As such, after completing the perimeter cut, Robomower usually leaves the front yard before it's completely cut and sneaks into the back yard. While this can be frustrating, it's how it's supposed to work if everything is 1 zone...I simply walk it back up into the front yard and let it start zig-zagging back and forth again. If it looks like rain or I'm in a hurry, I'll manually touch up any missed patches before walking it to another part of the yard...Otherwise I just let it run and run and run and it usually gets just about every spot (eventually). I got an extra new battery that I switch out mid-week so both stay charged.

I have it set to take off about 1/3 of the grass with each weekly cut and our Bermuda has never looked better. It truly is a "sea of green" once Robomower is finished and the blades have been clipped from every direction. It looks as good or better than the 0/visit professional landscaping crew does across the street. We have four 20" x 20" recessed drainage holes throughout the yard that can be a problem. Most of the time Robomower goes down and comes back out OK...Sometimes it just sits and spins the wheels trying to climb out. Hence, the supervision part of the job. Keeping an eye on Robomower and intervening when needed is still much better than the old blood and sweat that I see falling off the neighbors when they go out and cut their grass the old-fashioned way.

Next to the PC and HDTV, Robomower gets my vote for best "life made easier" invention of the past 20 years. It's not perfect, but neither are you when you cut the grass. It's just much more convenient watching the grass be cut by Robomower. Understand it's limitations, plan your yard zones like you want it to operate and you should be equally pleased with the results, provided you don't get the inevitable lemon. I have extra tires and extra blades, but haven't needed to replace them after 3 seasons of weekly mowings. Great product!!

RoboMower – RL850 Specifications

Early Adopters Pick: May 2003. The first fully robotic lawnmower that can learn parts of your yard.

The Robomower is convenient, easy, robotic, and clean--and it transforms the world of yard work! Set up (once), turn on, and the Robomower cuts the grass on almost any surface--all by itself. Getting the system set up in your yard can take most of an afternoon, but the well-written manual makes the job easier. The biggest part of the set-up task is stringing the perimeter wire around your yard, marking the boundaries the Robomower will stay within. Once you're set, and the mower is on, the machine simply senses the perimeter wire and uses three mulching blades to cut down everything inside the wire. Thanks to the onboard computer, the Robomower can even learn parts of your yard as it mows, making it quicker next time. The mower is quiet, automatic, and the mulching blades mean that when it's done you don't need to bag or rake.

The Robomower is outfitted with safety features. It won't run at all if it's flipped over with the blades exposed. Likewise, it turns tail and backs off if its soft 360-degree bumpers encounter any foreign object (like a pet or toy or favorite rose bush). A theft deterrent system keeps the unit safe. The Robomower is very quiet compared to other lawn mowers, although because it takes longer to get the job done than a human with a walk-behind mower, what noise there is lasts longer. The mower works best on level yards smaller than 3,200 square feet, with the grass reasonably tame to begin with. It does not work well on hilly or overgrown yards. While it takes a full day to recharge the battery, a full charge is enough to mow most lawns. (The mower is definitely no lightweight, either; it takes two people to remove the machine from the box when it arrives.) The Robomower is definitely a smart idea for folks with physical conditions that make strenuous activities like mowing difficult, but it's also a great product for anyone who feels like there's always something better to do with a weekend afternoon than lawn mowing. Rechargeable power pack comes included.--Brian Trinen

Great idea..... - Cool S - NJ, USA
Great idea for a product......Horrible follow through...

I purchased the robomower and brought it home to set up. I spent a full day pushing stakes in the ground setting up a zone. When the time came to realease the robo, it kept going off course...hmmmmm. I call the comapny and they have no idea (also no idea how to speak English) what is wrong. Then after ten call backs they figure out that my zone is too large (not in the instructions). So, I spend another day to set up a three zone configuration. It works for one day and the next day my robomower is in the middle of the street, while my neighbors laugh at me...

In summary, this a great idea with potential but the company and support are horrible...

Think of it as Windows 3.0.

This is not a lawn mower! - viking driver - Denver, CO USA
Everyone has stated good things about this product, but there have been a few criticisms. Rather than rehash the good stuff (I have had an RL1000 for almost 3 years and love it) I want to make some comments.

1. The RoboMower is not a lawn mower. It is a cutting system. Comparisons are constantly being made to conventional lawn mowers. With this way of thinking one can equate a fire hearth to a Kitchen stove. It just doesn't make sense. They are apples and oranges.

2. Many have stated they can cut their lawns in 1/3 the time. This is true, but how long would it take to cut the lawn in several different directions. Again, comparing it to another appliance, why would you take an hour to wash your dishes in a dishwasher when you can get the job done in 15 minutes in the sink. When you start the robomower you are basically finished cutting your grass.

3. Rearding the cost of blades and batteries, the expense is more than offset by the cost of fuel, tune-ups, blade sharpenings and oil changes on a gas mower.

4. Set up is tedious and you have to get it right, but you only have to do it once. After that you can forget about cutting your grass.

The product is amazing. Yes, there is a bit of trimmimg, but that is really a minimal task compared with what I was doing before. I don't have to bag grass every few rows, the unit does an amazing job of mulching, and if I put lawn care products on the lawn they stay on the lawn. I don't bag them up and send them out with the trash.

I think this thing is the next major "appliance" that we wil see in the future. If you don't have one now you will have one in the next few years as long as your property is compatable.

After Two Full Seasons - Kevin M. - Minnesota, USA
I've now used my RL800 for two full seasons, and I'm still pleased with it. It does a decent job, and it has advantages, but it isn't perfect.

Some of this has been said in other reviews, but I'll add my two cents. The pros:
- it mows while you relax, out of the heat
- it only takes a couple of minutes of your time to start it mowing, and another couple to put it away afterward
- it mows in multiple directions, a tip recommended by many lawn care advocates
- it doesn't get tired; you can mow your entire lawn two or three times a week if you want
- it is very quiet compared to a gas mower; about as loud as a cordless string trimmer

The cons:
- pricey
- expensive for consumables (battery pack every 3-5 years, a - expense per year, not including the cost of electricity to recharge, and new blades periodically, maybe every 2 or 3 years, another - per year)
- very slow compared to a gas mower - expect 2 hours to mow what you could easily do in half an hour yourself
- misses spots on a single session (but more frequent mowing makes up for this)
- recharge with included trickle charger can take more than 24 hours (about 13 hours per hour of use in my experience)
- won't mow yards over 5,000 sq ft on a single charge
- yards over 5,000 sq ft must be split up into zones
- can take multiple days to mow your entire yard
- perimeter wire layout is time consuming and tedious, especially if you have to wire around many obstacles
- the supplied wire and stakes aren't enough for any but there very smallest yards
- it can't handle especially small sections (narrower than 5')
- it doesn't mow close to obstacles or walls
- you'll still want a standard push mower (much as you would if you had a riding mower)
- it sometimes gets stuck or stops spontaneously (in my experience this happens one time in 15, so not too frequent)
- it's not suitable for rough or especially steep lawns
- blades need frequent cleaning for maximum performance (they gut gummed up), I'd recommend once every three-to-five session

I've rated this a four because I expected most of the above, and within it's limitations the Robomower performs as expected. But bottom line, unless you have some special reason you'll probably be better served spending your money on an inexpensive lawn tractor.

it is ok, that it!! - vijay - michigan
The product is too weak to do more than maintain the landscape. If you are using it to clear the growth after the winter, you will find it is too soft.
I had to revert back to my gas trimmer to clear the winter growth and I suppose will use this to maintain the edge.
Not what was promised on TV ads.

I really had high hopes for this... - C. Ward -
This was the first time I actually purchased an item off of an infomercial. I came to amazon, read some reviews, did my homework like I always do. There were mixed reviews as with any product, but I decided to test it out.

I decided to order from the 800 # as I've never done that before, and figured I would see what all they say/offer. From the start to the end it was about a 20-25 minute call. Out of those 20/25 minutes only 5 were taking my information, cc, etc. The rest was nothing but trying to upsell me. They tried to upsell the rapid charger (80.00 iirc), a "trimmings and grass blower", magazine subscriptions, etc. When I would say no, they would drop the price, and go again. I was nice about it, because I know the person on the end is only doing their job, and if they don't they will get fired. So anyway I just kept saying no thanks. They said if I paid the amount in full they would process my order faster, and I would receive expedited shipping, which meant I would receive the product in 7-10 days. The shipping was pretty fast, I received it in about 8 days.

When I opened the box, assembling what little needed to be done, was very easy. I plugged in the charger and put the battery on there. After 6 hours of charging it was ready. I went outside, did a little trimming and edging. After 15 minutes the battery was dead. I thought it must be a fluke since they said you can "trim an entire football field three times" on the infomercial. I charged the battery over night, and started again. Wow it lasted 20 minutes this time. I now see why they want to sell you extra batteries, and the rapid charger.

Other than the fact that this will only run for about 20 minutes, it seems a bit under-powered. What would take a corded/gas trimmer a swipe to cut, this took maybe 5-10 swipes. It's a good concept, and if the battery had lasted longer it would have received 3 or 4 stars, but that just isn't the case.

Overall I suggest buying another trimmer that won't force you to buy 4 batteries, or an 80.00 charger just to trim your grass.

Terrible power! Does NOT self feed line - David M. Blankenship - Alabama
I ordered this product and was very excited due to all the commericials that are ALL OVER the t.v. now. With a fully charged battery, I tried to trim my drive way and it was SO WEAK that I had to go very slow and try to trim a small portion of grass at a time. Also, every 2 minutes I had to stop and pull out the cord of the so called "self feeding line" that supposedly automatically adjusts to the proper length without manual adjustment...WRONG! It was such a dissappointment! Great idea but they didn't have the product to back up what they were advertising. I lost to ship it back, so bascially I paid dollars for a piece of crap and wasted time. DON'T BUY WORX GT!!!!!!!!

Neuton CE 5.4 14-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching/Bagging Lawn Mower with Removable Battery Review

Summary: If you have a very small yard (Perhaps 1000-1500 square feet of lawn) this could be a decent compromise for you, otherwise I don't think the 14" path and limited battery capacity will "cut it"

My neighbor has this one from a couple of years ago and I tried it out. It's smaller, lighter and quieter than the two cordless mowers we've used but that 14" path would probably be a dealbreaker for most people. When you consider that you will overlap each pass by at least 2-3 inches, you're really only cutting 10-11 inches on each pass.

+ Easy to maneuver
+ Quiet
+ Small
+ Super light compared to our B&D CM1100 or Toro, both of which weigh about twice as much

- 14" path!?!?!
- Pricey for what you get
- Hard to cut near obstacles

I've put a quick guide of the most popular models on Amazon. All info reported by manufacturer. Amazon won't let me put prices in my review, sorry!

>>Why SHOULD I get a cordless electric mower? They are super quiet, clean, and convenient. They aren't necessarily cheaper than a gas mower since they cost more up front but there is almost NO maintenance. (We spent over 10 years for a set of replacement batteries.) Corded electric mowers are a lot cheaper but then you have a cord.

>>Why SHOULDN'T I get a cordless mower? They weigh a LOT more than gas mowers so if you have a hilly lot or have difficulty with physical exertion, forget it. They don't have as much power as gas and re-fueling means charging for a few hours so if your lot is over ½ acre you may want to reconsider.

>>Why do they all come with mulching PLUS bagging? Electric powered mowers have come a long ways but mulching still takes a LOT more power than discharging, so bagging is pretty much a standard feature.

>>What is a watt-hour? It's basically how big your gas tank is - the more watt-hours, the longer you can mow before you have to recharge.

>>Is the cutting path a big deal? Yes - for two reasons. 1) The first thing manufacturers do when power is marginal is reduce the blade size, so I tend to see the smaller mowers as more likely to be underpowered. Second, when you consider that you have to overlap each pass by ~3", a 20" blade now effectively cuts 13% more on each pass. If you have a larger yard, you definitely do NOT want anything under 18" Also, my measurements show most mowers overstate their blade size by 1/2" (Our 20" measures 19-5/8, our 19 measures 18-1/2)

>>Why might I want a removable battery? If you have a large yard, this means you can have a second battery charging while you are using the first. A second battery typically costs 0-0 but it can make the difference between going electric or not. Finally, if you keep the mower in a shed that doesn't have power, a removable battery will let you bring it in for charging.

>>How long will my batteries last? That depends on your climate and usage. We had a small lot for many years and were religious about recharging right after use. We also live in a cooler climate (Michigan) so the mowing season is shorter. Our batteries lasted about 7 years. Most people should get 3-4 years easily but if you're careless and live in Arizona, you could probably kill the batteries in a year or two.

>>Why should I care about higher voltage? Higher voltage = more power, PLUS you can recharge the mower faster. With the same chemistry and current, a 36V mower will charge 50% faster than a 24V mower.

>>Metal deck or plastic? Metal rusts but with minimal care it's not an issue. Plastic ends up giving you a more stuff to trim since you can't cut as close to fences, etc.

poor battery life - Verlyn R - Camano Island, WA United States
I have a 5.? mower and cannot keep the battery working for more than 1 season. I store the battery per manufacturers suggestion (which has changed over the years) but still have to buy a battery every year. That's fairly expensive. I won't buy another. My mower is going to the dump and the batteries I've collected to the recycle.

Neuton CE5 has a bit more power than my corded Black & Decker had - C. D Smith - Denver, CO
We got this mower at an [...] mower trade in event. We didn't have a gas mower to trade in so we paid 5 for this mower. (We are giving our old B&D electric away to our dog sitter). I paid 9 for the B&D electric and it always had trouble with the higher grass. The Little Neuton CE5 has a bit more torque than the B&D ever had. The cutting path is quite a bit smaller at 14 inches, however, my wife keeps re-claiming more and more yard and turning it into garden so the 1500 or so square feet of lawn we have left is easily mowable with this little puppy. Set up was easy. I took the battery and charger into the back porch and had it charging while I assembled the mower. The battery wasn't fully charged after set up, but after about 4 hours on the charger (the manual said it could take 8 to 14 hours to fully charge), the light on the charger changed from red to green indicating the battery was fully charged. Even with all the rain and foot high grass (which would require a couple passes with any mower), going through that mostly dry foot high grass was easier with the Neut than with the B&D.

The "Prius" mower - J. Calhoun - Worthington, OH USA
I have the previous version of this mower, now 8 years old, and it finally died. The original batteries are still going, and I can still trim. We are rather rough on mowers (previous record: 3 years on a gas mower), but until last year, you could get any part to repair it. All mowers will need maintenance, but overall this has been much cheaper to operate and repair. I am ordering this version to replace it, which has been out a few years, and it is mostly the same as mine. Mine is the first version sold.

If you use up all the juice in one battery, just slip another one in. I can mow my small yard and do all the trimming and still have juice left over on one battery. I can mow on Sunday morning and not disturb anyone (you can talk in a low voice and be heard while mowing). You can pick it up with one hand. I mulch my leaves with it. The trimmer is the best one I have ever had.

Like all electric mowers, it requires a certain philosophy to be successfull (the "Prius" thing). I use the entire width and do not overlap rows, leaving a 4" mowhawk. Then I go back and mow that. You cannot walk too fast over the wet or extra thick parts. With this method, it is as fast and as thorough as my last 5 1/2 hp gas mower. You need to keep the batteries charged, but not on the charger all of the time. If you are not willing to make adjustments like this, you will be happier with a gas mower. The 36 volt version is more powerful, and so is a corded electric, but for small yards, this is fine.

Pro's The Solaris is a great mower. I can listen to i-tunes while I mow. It cuts a 21 inch wide path each time. Not lacking power at all. It's a very normal color, unlike some brands that prius all over theirs. I really enjoy my neighbors reactions to this innovative piece of progress.

Also, a built-in LED battery level indicator on the mower keeps you in-the-know about your battery power levels.

Comparison and FAQ... - Y. R. Wu - Ann Arbor, Michigan
I've used three different cordless mowers and based on that experience I have to say I'm skeptical that 24 volts will work well with a 21" blade. I Have the 20" Toro with 36 volts which works very well and a 19"/24V B&D, which I found to be adequate 80% of the time - with only 24V it struggled with tall grass. The Greenworks 24v/18" self propelled mower may be a better bet.

I've put a quick guide of the most popular models on Amazon. All info reported by manufacturer. Amazon won't let me put prices in my review, sorry!

>>Why SHOULD I get a cordless electric mower? They are super quiet, clean, and convenient. No fumes or exhaust- because gas mowers don't have catalytic converters, they can pollute as much in a year as 43 cars!!!!. They aren't necessarily cheaper than a gas mower since they cost more up front but there is basically NO maintenance. (We spent over 10 years for a set of replacement batteries.) Corded electric mowers are a cheaper but having a cord is a pain.

We also live in a cooler climate (Michigan) so it's cooler and the mowing season is shorter. Our batteries lasted ~7 years. Most people should get 3-4 years easily but if you're careless and live in Arizona, you might be able to kill the batteries in a year or two.

Long time user with big lawn - James P. Luckett - Massachusetts
I have a big lawn with lots of hills. But I hate the noise of a gas mower. With the Solaris and noise cancelling headphones, I can really enjoy music from my MP3 player while mowing.

I would give the mower 5 stars for ease of use, quiet, and mechanical ruggedness. My mower gets a lot of hard use and I've had it for 2 years. No mechanical or electrical problems and very easy to handle.

The bad part is battery life. I use two sets of batteries. The set that came with the mower and a second set that I bought () so that I can have more mowing time, charging them with one charger in rotation. The set that came with the mower never had good life, so the manufacturer replaced them under warranty. At first the manufacturer was reluctant to replace them, but my final winning argument was to buy the second set and determine that the second set gave more mowing time than the first set. That nullified all their arguments about, maybe the blade was dull, maybe my grass is too thick, maybe I have too many hills, etc. So, then I had 2 good sets of batteries and for 2 years I was very happy with the mower.

However, when I got it out to start mowing again this year (2010), the battery life was very low on both sets, even though I had kept them charged over the winter as instructed. So, now I have ordered 2 new sets of batteries.

All-in-all, I would never go back to the noise of gas mowing. And I'm very pleased that the mower has been otherwise trouble-free. But the cost of buying batteries (which is apparently going to average 0/year for me) erases the savings on gas.

Here's a tip: Keep the blade sharp. It increases the battery life by decreasing the drag on the motor. And it's better for the grass and gives a better-looking lawn. It's easy on this motor. Since you don't have to worry about spilling gas, you can just turn the whole unit completely upside down to get the blade off. Then I sharpen it with my belt sander and a fine-grit belt. I mount the belt sander in my bench vise (clamp the handle, not the body) upside down and hold the blade at the correct angle against the belt. It's about a 5-minute job, including finding the wrench.

Almost there... - John C. Chandler - Richland, WA USA
I had great hopes for this machine, and the original delivery did nothing to dampen my expectations. The packaging and delivery were outstanding, and the owner's manual was informative and written with little jargon (meaning I could understand it easily). Right out of the box, the SP21HB has every appearance of a quality piece of equipment. The mower came as close to fully assembled as I have ever seen a mower to be--just unfold the handle, charge the batteries, and go. It's almost as if the manufacturer had taken a top-notch gas mower and dropped the electric motor and batteries right into the chassis. The first (and so far the only) glitch came when I pulled it out of my garage and tried to mow. The control handle, which is the little bar you pull back to the handlebar to engage the motor, just like in a gas mower, wasn't quite calibrated. When I pulled the control handle back to the stop, it pulled the switch to the "on" position and past it, back to "off." I was able to mow by fiddling with the mechanical linkage, but my hand kept slipping away from the perfect position and the motor kept stopping. When it was running, the mower was excellent. The lead-acid batteries made the mower heavy, but they have no memory effect, meaning I can leave it on the charger all the time (except when I'm mowing, of course). The jury is still out on how Linemar/Solaris handles the quality control problem, but I expect them to handle it quickly and professionally.

Sunlawn 9-Inch 12 Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer #BTE-1

Sunlawn 9-Inch 12 Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer #BTE-1 Review

Trimmer arrived promptly and in good condition. The trimmer is good for light maintenance trimming of grass. The light weight of the trimmer makes it good for reaching into tight spots. It is not so good for initial clearing of an area over grown with tough weeds. It is a good supplement for a gas trimmer for lighter work but not a replacement for clearing badly over grown spots.

DO NOT BUY SUNLAWN PRODUCTS - 6080 - Sacramento, CA
SUNLAWN HAS GONE OUT OF BUSINESS & IS NOT HONORING THEIR WARRANTIES. IVE HAD THE SAME PART BREAK TWICE IN ONE YEAR. AVOID SUNLAWN PRODUCTS

Don't bother - S. Cauffman - Irvine, CA
The separate, shoulder-mounted battery is great, making the hand-held part as light as most plug-in electric trimmers. It seems to have a bit more torque than the cheapo plug-in trimmer I had before, though not enough to consider it professional-grade, by any means. Battery life is enough to edge a very small southern-california postage-stamp-sized yard (maybe a few hundred linear feet of edging).

The problem I've encountered is that, while the cutting cord will spin freely when the trimmer is not actively trimming, when I start to trim, the cord is deflected into the top of the safety cover, chopping the cord to a length of about 2 inches -- rendering it too short to cut effectively or to "self-feed" to the proper length by the usual method of tapping the spinning head on the ground. I ended up having to stop every few feet to manually pull out more string. I have found that this problem can be overcome by removing the safety cover entirely, but of course this is highly inadvisable, and I am certainly not suggesting that you do so.

If not for the finicky relationship between the cutting cord and the safety cover, I would have rated this trimmer with 5 stars instead of 2.

2-MONTH UPDATE (June, 2009): After a handful of charge/discharce cycles, battery life has decreased to less than a minute. After a full 12 hours of charging, the trimmer will spin fast enough to cut for a few seconds, and then slows to a low RPM that can't cut. This, despite the manual saying the lead-acid battery does not develop a memory. Revise rating to zero stars.

Great item - Justine - Portland, ME
I love my new trimmer, it is a great addition to my reel mower. Its easy to use and the instructions are easy to understand. Its great not having cords to tangle or gas to inhale.

Mantis 811103 15-Inch 24 Volt Cordless Electric Reel Mower with Folding Handle And Grass Catcher

Mantis 811103 15-Inch 24 Volt Cordless Electric Reel Mower with Folding Handle And Grass Catcher Review

This mower is Light! I can lift it one handed and it folds nicely to fit in my trunk. It's quiet, easy to turn, and mowing is now actually fun! I love this little guy. The only problem is the handle to activate the motor. Its spring is very tight and so you will probably need a small plastic clip or clamp to hold the handle against the bar. I know I did.

However, it needs some very particular mowing conditions.
#1 Flat lawn. I mean, really really flat. The slightest bump is enough to make the blades catch. If you have the motor running while you traverse across your driveway or walkway to the other half of your lawn, it will likely break.

#2 No debris. A pebble will permanantly damage the blades. My lawn has these peculiar leaves with little 'pods' or bumps in them, and when the mower goes over them a horrible clunking occurs as the hard bits of the leaf hit the blades. Even a single leaf will cause a small clunk.

#3 Small lawn. I have a 1,000 sq ft lawn, and the mower starts pooping out at the end. If I didn't have a fully charged battery, I have to do my lawn in two separate days. I'm in the suburbs. If you are in a town somewhere, most lawns are smaller than this so you should be fine.

#4 Mow it every week. I missed a week once, and the grass was too long for this little guy. My previous lawnmower had no problems, but this guy, nope. I had to borrow my neighbor's gas mower.

1 year Warranty is a LIE - D. Cowden - Oklahoma
Mantis does not honor their often advertised one year warranty if you purchase from any source other than them. Amazon wants to charge me a restocking fee because I bought the thing early the year and didn't try it out till recently.

Now I'm stuck with a 0.00 cheap piece of crap that is only good for tiny lawns.

Thank you for your email. The one year return policy is not in effect for items purchased online through other establishments.

Mantis Electric Reel Mower works fine. - B.K. BAZHE, Author of Damages, bazhe.com - NYC
It does work fine, not the best, but unfortunately we are behind many countries to be green and in technologies. So there is not much of a choice. The Quality is not the greatest, because many parts are plastic made in China. Also the price is not normal, but as I said, one has not much choice in our market-place.

Terrible Directions but good product - C. Harris - Boston, MA
I'm a 76-year-old woman who has a good-sized yard broken up by garden beds, and trees. Electric mower conked out so bought this one in hopes it would cut my lawn (front and back) on one charge. It does! It's not too hard for me to push although I haven't yet figured out how to adjust the blade height...that's what I mean by terrible directions...took me forever to put it together. Don't use the grass catcher, it fills up too fast and makes the mowing take longer. However it's light enough for me to handle although it's more of a workout for me than my electric mower was but nice not to worry about a cord. If I could figure out how to adjust the blade it would get more stars! Overall I'm glad I bought it.
